Albany Tech Announces New Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

August 14, 2012- ALBANY, GA- Albany Technical College has appointed Mrs. Charlene Duncan, as the new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the Early Childhood Care and Education/Childcare Development Demonstration Center division.


Effective September 1, 2012, Duncan will replace Mrs. Corene Hughley, who previously served in the division and will retire after more than 20 years at Albany Tech.


Duncan, who has been an instructor in the Early Childhood Care and Education division at Albany Tech for the last eight years, holds a master's degree in Education (Early Childhood) from Georgia Southwestern State University. She is also a Magna Cum Laude graduate with a bachelor's degree in Education from Albany State University.


Prior to coming to Albany Tech, Duncan worked for more than 7 years in the Dougherty County School System. She was named the winner of the Rick Perkins Award for Albany Tech (instructor of the year) for 2011 and serves as the District 1 representative for the Georgia Association on Young Children (GAYC).


"I feel privileged to serve in this capacity and will continue to further the mission of Albany Technical College to positively impact the field of Early Childhood Education," said Duncan.


A native of Albany, Georgia, Duncan is married to Henry J. Duncan, III and is the proud mother of one daughter, Joy Marie Duncan.
