Albany State University recently hired a liaison, Vincent Andrews, to be housed at Albany Technical College to help students as they transition from associate degree to bachelor degree programs. Andrews named ASU off-campus liaison with Albany Tech
While many individuals may be trying their hardest to enter corporate America, Vincent Andrews could not be happier that he is no longer part of the private sector.
“It took me all these years to discover that this is my passion,” he said. “This is where I need to be. This is my calling and talent.”
Returning to his alma mater, Andrews was recently named the new off-campus program liaison for Albany State University and Albany Technical College.
Located on the ATC campus, Andrews helps ATC students prepare for pursuing bachelor’s degrees at ASU after receiving associate degrees at ATC.
Natalie Knox, ASU coordinator of off-campus programs, credits Andrews’ caring personality for making him right for his new position.
“Vincent really wants to see people succeed and do bigger and better things,” Knox said.
That’s exactly what Andrews is doing by coordinating the two-plus-two educational agreement between ASU and Albany Technical College.
Prior to his new position as ASU, Andrews worked for The Coca-Cola Co. as a chemist, worked at Miller Brewing Co., and served as work base learning specialist for Turner Job Corps. Andrews also spent almost two decades working in corporate quality systems.
Andrews said he is proud to be back at the very place that helped him become the person he is today.
“ASU made me an educated African-American man and provided self confidence,” Andrews said. “It gave me a positive attitude, which enabled me to have a successful career.”
A native of Albany, Andrews is a graduate of Monroe High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Management from ASU, as well as a Master of Science in Management from Troy University.
In his free time Andrews enjoys golfing, fishing and being an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. as the coordinator of special projects. He also serves on the Albany Friends.com Christmas Reunion Fundraiser Committee.
