May 26, 2009 – A second student completes the two-plus-two educational agreement between Albany Tech and Albany State University. Perrotta Malone graduated from ASU last month and credits the partnership between the institutions for allowing him to fulfill his educational goals.
Malone earned his associate degree in Computer Information Systems from Albany Tech in 2007. Through the two-plus-two articulation agreement, Malone was accepted into ASU’s Technology Management bachelor’s degree program.
Malone completed his bachelor’s degree at Albany State in just two years thanks to credits he earned during his associate degree studies at Albany Tech. He now plans to earn his master’s degree. He hopes to become a Chief Information Officer for a major government entity. Malone, a military veteran, husband and father of two, says the articulation gives non-traditional students the opportunity to work and attend college.
“I worked two jobs during my years in college,” said Malone. “I appreciate the sacrifices my family made to allow me to be a life-long learner. I believe education will open many doors and improve our lives.”
Albany Tech now offers seven articulation programs including Early Childhood Care and Education, Law Enforcement, Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Business Logistics Management, Marketing and an online-based Bachelor of Applied Science known as WebBAS.
In December of 2008, James Wright became the first Albany Tech graduate to complete the WebBAS program at Albany State.
