- Albany State University Summer Transportation (STI) students will visit Albany Technical College’s drafting technology lab for a hands-on drafting and design experience on Monday, June 27, 2011, from 10am to 11:30am.

The STI program is designed to expose high school students to careers in transportation, design, and technology.

“Early exposure to drafting is beneficial to the students, because drafting is the foundation skill needed to be successful in the technical world,” said Chinelo Ochie, drafting instructor at Albany Technical College.

“The technical language and communication tool connects not only the industries, but also others such as engineering, electronics, architecture, and others,” added Ochie.

The drafting technology program at Albany Technical College is designed to prepare students for careers in the mechanical, architectural, or electronic drafting fields. Students learn to design from working drawings, preliminary sketches, and specifications on the CAD System. Additional training allows students to calculate the strength, size, and cost of materials.
