ALBANY, GA – Albany Technical College will hold a Dual Enrollment Pathways signing on Monday, April 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Kirkland Conference Center. Eight Dual Enrollment students will be signing to move on to several universities to complete their bachelor’s degrees. One Dual Enrollment student has plans to join the US Air Force.
Mykiyah Daniels is currently a senior at Dougherty High School. She is dual enrolled in the Associates Degree program. An active member of member of FBLA, cheerleading team, and tennis team. She has applied to Many HBCU colleges and plans to attend Fort Valley State University in the Fall.
Jayla Fowler is currently a senior at Westover High School. She is dual enrolled in the Law Enforcement Degree program. She was a part of the MCJROTC program at Westover for 2 years, She was an active participant on the drill team. She has taken steps to begin her journey in the military. She has selected the Air Force and will find out her basic training date later in April.
Eshaun Harvey is currently a senior at Terrell County High School. He is dual enrolled in the Business Management Associate Degree program. As a High School student, he will graduate as Salutatorian of his class. He is an active member of the math, basketball, football, and track team. He is also president of our Jr. NAACP branch. At Albany Technical College he has received the Work Ethics award. He has been accepted to Troy University and will begin classes this fall.
Valencia Hill is currently a senior at Westover Comprehensive High School. She is dual enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program here at Albany Technical College. Valencia is a Varsity Basketball Cheerleading Captain at Westover. She is an honor student athlete, who is a Cadet Gunnery Sargent in the McJROTC. Even though she is only 17 years old she is currently getting certification in Phlebotomy, Central Sterilization and Nurse Aid, thanks to Albany Tech! Valencia is a 2018-2019 Utilis Matronae Debutant Club member. As a Debutant she also received the Incentive Award! She has applied to Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University and Florida A&M University. She will be deciding soon which college she will chose attend in the fall of 2019 to major in Nursing and graduate in 2021.
Taylor Huff is currently a junior at Dougherty High School where she is in the top 10 percent of her class. She is dual enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Studies Degree program at Albany Technical College. At her high school, Taylor is a member of HOSA, where she acquires the knowledge, skills and leadership for students interested in healthcare. Through the Interdisciplinary Students program at Albany Tech, she has been afforded the opportunity to participate in clinical rotations at a local nursing facility and physician’s office. She said, “The best part of my program has been the clinical rotations because those experiences allowed me the opportunity to narrow my focus and find my passion in healthcare.” In her community, Taylor servers a Vice-President of the teen group of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.. She gives back to her community by volunteering in community clean-ups, feeding the homeless and participating in fundraisers to help support organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany and Open Arms, Inc. In April, Taylor will graduate with an associate degree as a high school junior. When Taylor graduates high school in May of 2020, she plans to attend to Xavier University of Louisiana and major in pharmacy.
Markashia Newbill is currently a senior at Monroe Comprehensive High School. She is dual enrolled in the Pharmacy Technology Degree program. As a high school student, Markashia will graduate in the top 10 percent of her class. She is a member of the 2018 Debutante Organization. Markashia received the 2018 Governor’s Honor Award at Monroe High School. She has applied at Fort Valley Stay University in the Biology program. Markashia will find out if she has been accepted in June and plans to start in the fall.
Erin Sibley is currently a senior at Westover High School. She is also dual enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Associates Degree Program at Albany Technical College. She is currently completing her internship at a local child care facility. As a high school student; she will be graduating in the top 10 percent of my class. She is currently an active member of Foundation Setters and a nominee in the 2017 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) competition at Albany Technical College. Erin has successfully completed three years in the Marine Corps JROTC program, and was selected to serve on the 2018 Senate Paging committee. She was also selected for the Miss Alba Pageant in 2017, was a creative dancer on the Common Attractions dance group of Albany, and also participated as a side base competition cheerleader for Westover High School. Erin’s current GPA is a 4.0, and she plans to attend Albany State University in the fall majoring in Psychology.
Tyrell Smith is currently a senior at Randolph High School. He is the 1st Dual Enrollment student from Randolph Clay to graduate with an associate degree. He is in the top 10 percent in his high school graduating class. He has earned a Certificate in Culinary arts and in Law enforcement. He is a National beta club member. He also won best actor in one act play. He is actively involved in the community. He serves on the usher board at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He is a member of Quest for Change (The goal of Quest for Change is to reduce teen pregnancies among adolescent youth who are at greatest risks of STIs and most likely to bear children out of wedlock through and abstinence and positive youth development approach). Tyrell is also a member of Pluto (The goal of Pluto is to assist the youth with college/ career readiness with a positive approach). Tyrell volunteered his services on Martin Luther King Day at the Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home.

Candice Teal is currently a senior at Dougherty Comprehensive High School. She is dual enrolled in the Marketing Management Degree program. As a High School student Candice will graduate in the top 20 of her class. An active member of society, Candice was a 2018 Utilis Matronae Debutante. She has been accepted to Valdosta State University and will continue my education in Marketing.
With the Georgia Dual Enrollment program, all Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) colleges are seeing tremendous growth, especially those who move on to four-year universities to obtain higher levels of degrees. The goal is to highlight these students each academic year.
