Albany, Georgia – Albany Technical College announces Tim Dal Bon as interim head basketball coach.  Dal Bon was named following the resignation of Sylvester Patterson who had served as head coach since 2007. Tim was recruited last year to be the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for the Albany Tech Titans. This year, he will lead the Titans team in the 2020-2021 season.

Tim Dal Bon is a native of Fort Myers, Florida. He joined the Albany Tech Men's basketball program in August 2019. In his first year on staff, the Titans finished 18-12, 4th in the conference overall. Before coming to Albany Tech, he was the CEO of 'Ground Zero Training', a company specializing in skill development for college and professional basketball players.

Dal Bon is no stranger to the basketball community. He played at Tallahassee Community College, where he earned an associate degree in General Studies in 2016. Upon graduation, he went on to play at Valdosta State University, where he helped VSU to a 26-6 record, which featured a Gulf South Championship, Top 25 Ranking, and an appearance in the NCAA II Tournament. In his four years as a college player, he was a part of 81 wins and three championships. Dal Bon is currently working on finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Valdosta State University.

Dal Bon says, "We are in full swing, ready to start in February playing GCAA basketball. February 13 will be our first game. A non-conference portion of the schedule is still being worked out.”

Dr. Anthony Parker, President of Albany Tech, stated, "Coach Dal Bon was the obvious choice to step in as the Titan's Head Coach for the season. We feel confident in his abilities and look forward to another exciting season watching our Titans on the court. He brings an enthusiasm and eagerness that will surely make a difference."

Currently, the Titans have two sophomores with Division I offers, Jacquez Fountain, Jalen Nesmith and Zeff Felton has a Division II offer.  Last year the Titan’s had a graduating sophomore, Vinny Viana, sign with the University of Tennessee/Martin Men's Basketball program as an incoming junior on the 2020-21 Skyhawk roster. Dal Bon says that Titan coaches are player-oriented. Having players like Vinny on the team creates an excellent opportunity for recruiting because possible younger recruitable players see players' caliber on the Titan team, which creates interest. Many kids see this and want to be a part of it.

The 2021 Titans roster includes 12 players. There are four returning sophomores: Michael Wynn, Javez Lumpkin, Jacquez Fountain, and Zeff Felton.  Dal Bon feels like the returning players from last year are going to be strong leaders for the team. Fountain was the GCAA Freshman of the year last season and Felton was named to the first team all defense. Both players have received Division I and II interest recently.

Dal Bon goes on to say, “I knew from the beginning that I wanted to be a head coach and I am focused on making that happen. I’m fully invested in it. I think Albany Tech has so much potential. I’ve been able to play for coaches, as a point guard, that have 400 to 500 career wins and I’ve been a sponge watching and learning from them.”

“I think with this team you will see players that are held accountable every day for who they are on and off the court. It’s an exciting time at Albany Tech and a lot of things are progressing with the Titans,” says Dal Bon.

No decision has been made as to whether fans will be able to come to the home games at the ASU HYPR gym.
