The Criminal Justice Technology diploma and associate degree programs are a sequence of courses that prepares students for Criminal Justice professions.Learning opportunities develop academic,occupational,and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement.The program emphasizes a combination of Criminal Justice theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive a Criminal Justice Technology diploma or associate degree. Graduates who are current practitioners will benefit through enhancement of career potential. Entry-level persons will be prepared to pursue diverse opportunities in the corrections, security, investigative, and police administration fields.Completion of the Criminal Justice diploma and associate degree do not ensure certification of officer status in Georgia.Students must seek such certification from the Peace Officer Standards andTraining (P.O.S.T.) Council.
Course work in this curriculum will include a division of work in the disciplines of criminal justice and computer information systems. Graduates should qualify to become computer crime investigators for local or state criminal justice agencies. Also, these graduates should be competent to serve as computer security specialists or consultants with private business.
The Fire & Emergency Services Occupation degree program is designed to prepare students for entry level employment in the public safety areas of fire service and emergency medical services. Upon completion of the Fire & Emergency Services Occupation degree, students may be eligible for certification and/or licensure in the following areas: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, EMT and AEMT. Note: criminal background checks and drug screens are required for participation in clinical experiences.
The Fire Science Associates Degree and Diploma programs are a sequence of courses designed to prepare fire service personnel at all levels to become better officers and leaders.The program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain and upgrade present knowledge and skills. Completion of the program of study leads to an Associates of Applied Science or Diploma in Fire Science.

Albany Technical College offers a variety of fire service educational pathways from basic firefighter to fire officer. The curriculum has been validated by subject matter experts and is based on a national model developed by the National Fire Academy (NFA). The curriculum includes Basic Firefighter I & II, Fire Behavior and Combustion, Building Construction, Fire Protection Hydraulics and Water Supply, Fire Protection Systems, Introduction to Fire Science, Fire Inspections, Fire Administration, Safety and Survival, Tactics and Strategy and Hazardous Materials.
