Joint Enrollment

Joint Enrollment provides high school students with the opportunity to take courses at Albany Technical College and receive college credit ONLY for the courses that they take at the college. Joint enrollment students usually attend college classes in the afternoon or evening after they have attended high school for an entire school day. Joint Enrollment students are allowed to take academic and program courses for any technical certificate or diploma program in which they are eligible.

How do I get started?

  • Students must have successfully completed ninth grade or above and are 16 years of age or older.
  • The student must fill out the Albany Technical College high school admissions application. The application fee has been waived by Albany Technical College’s president for high school students.
  • Students must successfully pass the Albany Technical College entrance exam requirements.

  • Students must complete the Albany Technical College Agreement to Participate Form
  • Students must have their own transportation to Albany Technical College if they are not taking online classes.

How will the courses be paid for?

For qualified Georgia students, a portion of the tuition will be covered under the HOPE grant. Albany Technical College’s president believes that attending college while in high school is so beneficial to high school students that our college is waiving the remainder of the tuition cost as well as all fees. The only cost to students will be for books and materials. If a student is a first generation college student, receives free/reduced lunch at their high school or can prove financial need they may be able to receive money for books from the College Access Challenge Grant. Requests and documents for this program must be turned in one week before the start of the semester the student is entering. The request will also need to be made for each semester the student is attending.

Students in the Joint Enrollment program will be using their HOPE money. For complete details on HOPE, please visit the Georgia Student Finance Commission website at
